Your company data could be worth $100k–$3 million

There's a new channel of revenue that has just been unlocked for companies with over 20 people that have been around longer than a year.

Few know it, but AI labs now let you monetize your company’s operational data, and they're spending $15 billion this year on it to train the next frontier of LLMs. Your workflows, documentation, processes, and internal convos like Slack are extremely valuable and they're paying anywhere from $100k to $3 million for it per company.

Before you ask, all the data is anonymized and cleaned before it's sent to a Lab. Bezel (Y combinator backed) helps find a data partner that is the best fit for you.

GOOGLE CLOUD PLATFORM

TL;DR: Google Cloud's London zones faced a network infrastructure outage disrupting key services like Compute Engine and Cloud SQL, prompting customers to reassess multi-zone redundancy and emphasizing cloud resilience challenges.

  • Google Cloud’s London data center zones suffered an outage disrupting virtual machines, databases, and storage services.

  • The outage stemmed from network infrastructure issues, affecting Compute Engine and Cloud SQL services in the region.

  • Google acknowledged the disruption and actively worked to restore services while updating customers via status dashboards.

  • The incident highlights risks of single-zone dependency, encouraging users to adopt multi-zone redundancy strategies.

Why this matters: The Google Cloud London outage reveals how even advanced cloud systems remain vulnerable to localized failures, risking significant business disruption. It stresses the critical importance for users to implement multi-zone redundancy to maintain continuity and for providers to enhance infrastructure resilience to support trust and dependable service delivery.

DATA QUALITY

TL;DR: Boomi acquired Israeli startup Elementary for $43M to enhance AI-ready data integration, automating complex data preparation and enabling faster, more reliable AI workflows for enterprises facing growing data challenges.

  • Boomi acquired Israeli startup Elementary for $43 million to boost AI-ready data integration capabilities.

  • Elementary’s automation technology simplifies and speeds up complex data preparation for AI and analytics.

  • The acquisition enhances Boomi’s platform, enabling faster, more reliable AI data workflows for enterprises.

  • This deal highlights growing enterprise demand for efficient AI data pipelines and integration solutions.

Why this matters: Boomi’s acquisition of Elementary addresses a critical bottleneck in AI adoption—complex data preparation—by automating and accelerating data workflows. This strengthens Boomi’s platform, enabling enterprises to deploy AI more efficiently, reflecting a key industry shift toward integrated, scalable AI-ready data solutions.

POSTGRESQL

TL;DR: PostgreSQL 19 release is delayed after LLM-assisted code reviews caused problems, prompting rollbacks. Developers stress better AI integration and human oversight to balance innovation with software reliability.

  • PostgreSQL 19 release is delayed due to issues caused by LLM-assisted code review reverts.

  • LLM-generated review suggestions introduced unforeseen problems, necessitating rollbacks to maintain stability.

  • Developers emphasize the need for refined AI integration and human oversight in critical software releases.

  • The delay highlights the balance between AI innovation and ensuring reliability in open-source projects.

Why this matters: The PostgreSQL 19 delay reveals the challenges of integrating AI into critical software workflows, emphasizing that despite AI’s promise, human oversight and careful testing remain essential. This cautionary case stresses prioritizing stability over speed, guiding future AI adoption strategies in open-source development.

GRAPH DATABASE

TL;DR: Neo4j's Context Engine unifies enterprise data using graph technology, enabling AI agents to share real-time business context, reduce silos, improve collaboration, and boost operational efficiency and decision-making.

  • Neo4j’s Context Engine creates a unified business knowledge base for AI agents using graph database technology.

  • It models complex enterprise data as a semantic graph, enabling real-time shared context among AI systems.

  • The engine reduces information silos, improving AI collaboration, accuracy, and alignment with organizational workflows.

  • Context Engine enhances operational efficiency, decision-making, and customer interactions by standardizing AI knowledge sharing.

Why this matters: Neo4j’s Context Engine tackles the fragmentation of AI knowledge in enterprises by enabling shared understanding among AI agents through a unified semantic graph. This boosts AI accuracy, collaboration, and alignment with workflows, ultimately driving better decisions, operational efficiency, and consistent customer experiences.

DEEP DIVE

What AWS is doing on the AI Agent and Data front

I am really begin to think that this is the primary subject that us data practitioners should be thinking about.

I see more and more stories and news about how databases of all types are now just part of a new stack where agents store/dump their data, without regard to classic ideas of old time data modeling, governance, and basic stewardship.

What I am particularly getting at is just the notion of agents deploying databases as needed, and tearing them down just as quickly.

On a professional note, I will attend another training at AWS HQ. This time, they will be discussing what they call “the new database layer for agentic AI”.

As mentioned above, they will be discussing AWS Context and the Ontology Accelerator.

What are these you may ask (and what I may ask to as I have never heard of these before)?

AWS Context

AWS announced AWS Context at its New York Summit in June. Point it at your existing data and it automatically builds a knowledge graph of how datasets, business rules and domain knowledge relate, which agents across the organization can search at runtime.

Data stewards review the inferred relationships, promote the ones they trust and attach business definitions. The graph is also meant to learn from use: when one agent works out the right way to join two datasets, the others benefit without anyone re-curating it.

Key metadata is published as Apache Iceberg tables, so it can be queried by any Iceberg-compatible engine. Every query inherits the calling user's existing permissions, so agents only see what their identity allows and everything can be audited. The caveat is that AWS Context is still listed as coming soon, with no timeline or pricing.

Context Ontology Accelerator

The accelerator is the part you can use today. AWS released it as open source in late July. It uses AI to draft a formal ontology of your business from your data, then requires domain experts to approve every element before agents rely on it. The ontology lives in a knowledge graph you own, in open W3C standards, and AWS says it will carry over when the capability becomes part of AWS Context.
